Luke Jerram's seven-metre moon comes to the Civic Campus in Hammersmith from 28 November to 3 January, 9am to 5pm, and the council lists it as free.

Luke Jerram’s Museum of the Moon, a seven-metre touring sculpture of the moon lit from inside, is coming to Hammersmith. The council’s events calendar lists it at the Civic Campus, 1 Unity Square, W6 9JU, from Saturday 28 November 2026 to Sunday 3 January 2027, open 9am to 5pm, and gives the cost as free.

The quick answer

Saturday 28 November to Sunday 3 January, 9am to 5pm, at the Civic Campus, 1 Unity Square, Hammersmith W6 9JU. Free. The council’s listing does not say whether you need to book, whether it closes on any days over Christmas, or where in the building the moon hangs. We will add those when they are published.

What it is

From the council’s event listing:

  • The sculpture is seven metres across and built at roughly 1:500,000 scale, so each centimetre of its surface stands for 5km of the real moon.
  • It is lit from inside and printed with detailed NASA imagery of the lunar surface, at 120dpi.
  • It comes with a surround sound composition by Duncan Speakman and Sarah Anderson.
  • It is a touring work by the UK artist Luke Jerram, whose project site is my-moon.org.

Make a day of it

Hammersmith has more on in the same weeks. The Lyric’s pantomime, Cinderella, runs from 14 November to 3 January. For Father Christmas, our Santa’s grotto page compares Santa’s Winter Garden at Fulham Palace with London Christmas Village on Shepherd’s Bush Green, which opens on the same day as the moon, 28 November. Our What’s On in Fulham page has everything else for the next six weeks.
