Dov Citron returns to the Comeragh Road theatre with his solo Animal Farm, told by Moses the Raven, 29 September to 3 October. He last played there in 2005.
An actor who first trod the boards at Barons Court Theatre as a young performer in 2005 is returning to the same tiny W14 stage this September, this time with a show he wrote himself.
Dov Citron performs his solo adaptation of George Orwell’s Animal Farm, titled Animal Farm, As Witnessed by Moses the Raven, at the theatre beneath the Curtain’s Up pub on Comeragh Road from Tuesday 29 September to Saturday 3 October, at 7.30pm each night.
Citron last performed at Barons Court 21 years ago, playing the war poet Siegfried Sassoon in Not About Heroes in 2005.
“There’s a lovely local-circle aspect to it for me personally,” he said. “Coming back to this tiny West London theatre more than two decades after performing there as a young actor, now bringing a piece of my own.”
One performer, a whole farm
The show is a darkly humorous retelling of Orwell’s novel through the eyes of Moses, the tame raven who preaches of a paradise beyond the farm. One performer becomes the many inhabitants of the farm as the revolution gradually turns into something very different from what was promised.
The piece was developed through work-in-progress performances at Barons Court earlier this year, and now returns for its full run.
