No Tube, Overground or trains on Christmas Day. On Boxing Day the Central line stops at White City and the Overground north of Shepherd's Bush is shut.

Nothing runs on the Tube, the Overground or National Rail on Christmas Day, Friday 25 December 2026, and services finish early on Christmas Eve. The good news for Fulham is that TfL’s planned closures list, published on 25 September, shows no District line or Piccadilly line closures in the borough between Christmas and New Year. The gaps are on Boxing Day, Saturday 26 December: no Central line west of White City, and no Overground between Willesden Junction and Shepherd’s Bush or Richmond. National Rail has warned that most train companies will run nothing at all on 26 December. This page will be updated as TfL and the train companies publish their Christmas timetables.

The quick answer

Christmas Day: no Tube, Overground or National Rail trains at all. Christmas Eve: services finish early, with last-train times still to come. Boxing Day (Saturday 26 December): the Central line does not run west of White City, and the Overground’s Mildmay line does not run between Willesden Junction and Shepherd’s Bush or Richmond. The District line through Fulham has no planned Christmas closures.

Line by line, 21 December to 3 January

From TfL’s planned track closures list, “correct at date of publication Friday 25 September 2026”, for the lines that serve Hammersmith and Fulham:

In practice, on Boxing Day, a journey from Shepherd’s Bush towards Willesden Junction or Acton will need a bus, and anyone heading west on the Central line from Shepherd’s Bush can get only as far as White City by Tube.

Weekends before Christmas

TfL’s same list has four closures on local lines in the run-up to Christmas, which matter if you are heading for the markets or the shops:

  • Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November: no Hammersmith and City line at all, and no Circle line between Hammersmith and Tower Hill. The District line is also closed between Edgware Road and High Street Kensington.
  • Sunday 6 December: no District line between Turnham Green and Richmond, and no Mildmay line between Willesden Junction and Richmond.
  • Sunday 13 December: no Central line between White City and Ealing Broadway or Northolt.
  • Tuesday 15 to Friday 18 December: no southbound Mildmay line between Willesden Junction and Shepherd’s Bush until 6.15am.

National Rail and Southern

National Rail’s Christmas and New Year 2026/27 summary covers 24 December to 4 January. What it says so far:

  • Thursday 24 December: trains on many routes finish earlier than normal. Its list of last trains from London will be published in late November or early December.
  • Friday 25 December: no National Rail services.
  • Saturday 26 December: most train companies will run no service; a very limited service from a few operators is still to be confirmed.
  • Monday 28 December: this year’s substitute Boxing Day bank holiday. Services are still to be confirmed.
  • Thursday 31 December: some routes finish early. Extra services after midnight into New Year’s Day will be listed in early December.

That matters for Southern’s trains through Imperial Wharf, West Brompton, Kensington Olympia and Shepherd’s Bush, and for anyone changing at Clapham Junction. National Rail says each train company’s details will be added from the beginning of October.

Buses, driving and parking

TfL has not yet published its 2026 festive plans. In 2025 its Christmas announcement said there would be no service on most public transport on Christmas Day, a Sunday service on the Tube and London Buses on Boxing Day, and services all night on New Year’s Eve. The central London Congestion Charge was suspended from Christmas Day to New Year’s Day, while ULEZ applied as usual except on Christmas Day. Santander Cycles ran throughout. Treat that as last year’s pattern until TfL confirms 2026.

On parking, Hammersmith and Fulham’s bank holiday parking rules say pay and display charges do not apply on bank holidays in most zones. The exception is Zone G, which charges from 9am to 10pm every day and stops only on Christmas Day and Easter Sunday. Zones T, X and Y charge on Sundays and bank holidays when Fulham are at home, and the council’s match-day list has Fulham at home on Saturday 26 December and Wednesday 30 December. Yellow lines, bus lanes and loading bans apply as normal on every day. Our parking in Fulham page has the full zone detail.

Other disruption to plan around

  • Boxing Day football. With Fulham at home on 26 December, expect crowds at Putney Bridge on a day when trains are reduced. Fixture details are on our things to do in Fulham page.
  • Bins. Last Christmas only four days’ collections moved, and the council publishes the new dates in December; see Fulham bin collection days.
  • Roadworks. Our Fulham roadworks and travel page carries the current closures.
  • School holidays. State schools break up on Friday 18 December, and the big independents earlier: see term dates.

Still to be confirmed

TfL’s 2026 festive press release and last-train times (last year’s came on 2 December); National Rail’s last trains from London and each operator’s Boxing Day and 28 December services; bus arrangements for Christmas Day and Boxing Day. We will update this page in the first week of December, and again if TfL changes its closures list.
